When Walls Speak: Embracing the Fashionable Cladding Trend

Whenever we think of walls, we think of wallpaper or painting. But there is another way of adding a dramatic touch, not talked about much but now becoming fashionable, and that's cladding. Cladding is nothing but an extra layer of wall material that offers protection and insulation but also adds an anesthetic effect. Exterior cladding is more commonly used than interior cladding, but a nice long look is just as deserving of the latter. There is sure to be a cladding option, whether you are trying to adapt your walls to a pattern or merely trying to alter the façade of your house.

Cladding material for exterior facades is typically a non-structural material that while adding elegance, protects the wall against rain, heat, and wind. Varieties commonly used include finishes in stone and wood.

Used commonly, timber cladding is resistant to wind and poor weather conditions, but only if the wood is well handled. It's a decent insulator which can be wrapped to provide extra security in many finishes.

What interior cladding is all about is cladding a portion of your living, dining, or bedroom wall to highlight an environment or to catch focus. There are countless options available, especially since the requirements that exterior cladding does not require are not needed.

For its beauty, the stone is sometimes selected, which may be natural stone, raw concrete, or veneers. It has a rustic feel and is robust. Marble, granite, or other natural types are among the varieties. Transparent onyx marble is a major declaration of fashion and can be lit up to generate drama from the inside. Brick cladding is fantastic, since simply using various colored bricks you can make a range of designs. If you like, you can even make it over them. They are lightweight, easy to mount, and maintain and provide insulation. The cladding of Plywood is primarily performed to cover cables or wires and is a non-structural operation.

One of the better cladding options is oak. A natural feeling, flexibility, and comfort is created by wooden cladding. A good style argument can be made for wooden claddings. Effective thermal and acoustic insulation is provided. Wooden claddings are also a good alternative for India, where dampness allows quick peeling of wallpaper.

For internal wet areas, such as bathrooms or showers, laminates are fine. Laminates, guaranteeing a mold-free shower area, do not chip, fade, or need grouting. They can handle more impact than ceramic tiles. For wet areas, PVC cladding is also fine and can be rendered to look like mosaic, marble, or timber.

Cladding helps you to have a whole new look at a reasonably low cost if you're looking for a way to upgrade your house. And for both exterior and interior walls, this is real.

Useful Tip

  • Made sure the walls are solid enough for the cladding to withstand the extra weight. Take guidance from experts.
  • And before cladding is added, the walls must be plastered to ensure that plastering is completed before the cladding begins.
  • The cladding must comply with fire safety and ventilation construction regulations. For eg, wood should be flame-retardant; it is possible to add chemicals for this.
  • Before you install cladding, wonder whether it's worth installing insulation. Your fuel bills and carbon emissions will make a significant difference.
