- Glue- The type of glue used is a key distinction between exterior and interior plywood. Urea Formaldehyde glue, or UF, is a common type of glue used to join the plies together in interior plywood, while Phenol Formaldehyde (also known as phenolic resin) is used in exterior plywood.
- Durability: Exterior grade plywood is more durable than interior grade plywood.
- Price: Exterior plywood is more expensive than interior grade plywood.
- Waterproof- exterior plywood is water-resistant due to the use of waterproof glue and is thus suitable for outdoor construction, while interior plywood is not water-resistant and is best used for indoor applications only. Interior plywood can be made water resistant by laminating it with one of the many decorative laminates available today.
